Top 4 vSAN Ready Node Features

Last June Lenovo announced the release of its vSAN Ready Node with the new Intel Optane Drives. The ThinkSystem portfolio was the first line of servers to be included on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List. This new platform is going to revolutionize the storage market due to its reliability and blazing performance.

As customers start to migrate their critical applications to vSAN based HCI solutions, they are aware that they need higher performance than the current HCI solution can deliver. Furthermore, legacy storage platforms have become the bottleneck for virtualized applications and workloads that need higher IOPS.

To address these issues, Lenovo, VMware and Intel launched the new vSAN ready node that leverage Optane technology. The ThinkSystem SR630 and SR650 are the hardware components used to accommodate this newer technology.

Lenovo vSAN Ready Nodes with Intel Optane technology provides an ideal combination of hardware and software resulting in high performance and extraordinary reliability permitting customers to achieve the best possible outcome of their hyperconverged infrastructure.

Customers can expect the following 4 benefits by switching to the new Lenovo vSAN ready node with the Optane SSDs:

  1. Higher Performance: up to 4x throughput and 10x Lower latency
  2. More Efficiency: up to 3x more VMs than old vSAN node
  3. Higher Endurance: 30 Drive Write Per Day (DWPD) vs 3 DWPD for Intel P4600
  4. Simplified Management: Integration between the new Xclarity and VMware vCenter to provide single Interface to manage the entire solution
